In celebration of Tabletop Scotland 2023, bearlyMatt's Library of Roleplaying Oddities is proud to present: Melodie 2nd Edition.

melody is a leaflet-style, rules-lite, DM-less, collaborative RPG to play with a friend over a cup of coffee.

This game is the product of a day out with my bestie where we conquered the world and all our problems with the liberal application of caffeine and good-vibes.

Two estranged best friends suddenly rekindle contact under the proposal of a day-trip to a favourite quaint village. When the two of you start bonding, the barrier which keeps the mundane separate from the fantastical begins to deteriorate. Upon arrival, the two of you are thrust into a world of whimsy and magic. 

Bringing together inspirations from the Isekai genre and cultural classics such as Studio Ghibli, enter into a world centred around coffee and saving the world, one sip at a time: join together and rekindle your friendship; embrace the fantastical, and save yourselves from the banality of everyday life...

Originally created for the Markdown Jam 2021, Melodie was conceived with emacs using markdown-mode, extended with org-mode (another markup language) before evolving into the leaflet-style RPG available today.
